Compared to 2014, foreign trade in the Italian agri-food sector recorded an increase of 7.4% in exports (37.2 billion euros in 2015) and 2% in imports (42 billion euros). This has led to an automatic reduction in the deficit of the agri-food balance, which has fallen, for the first time in the last 25 years, below the threshold of EUR 5 billion (-4,782 million). This is the photograph that the CREA, Council for Research in Agriculture and Analysis of the Agricultural Economy, published on July 5,2016 in its report Trade with foreign countries of agri-food products.

The data processed by CREA – explained Ida Marandola, General Manager – confirm for this year as well the important role of the agro-food sector in the trade balance of our country. For the fourth consecutive year, the agri-food sector’s weight on total exports of goods increased, reaching 9%. This is the highest value of the last 25 years’.

An indispensable condition for a quality Made in Italy export? Transport.

The transport of agri-foodstuffs requires extra attention to ensure that the goods arrive at their destination in optimum quality.

Cesped has also thought about these particular needs and decided to offer a dedicated service through our Fresh & Food division.
